Tasting Notes

In keeping with its background, the wine plays on balance and elegance. Lively and intense crushed blackberries and blackcurrant fruit tones dominate the nose with toasty oak, dried herbs and vanilla notes. Full and lush on the entry, the palate has great volume and depth. Ripe tannins and a long finish complete the wine.

Vineyard & Vintage Notes

While every one of our wines is created from unique parcels of grape from select vineyards, year-in and year-out, vintage variation shows that every wine is the sum of every single weather event of the vintage, and the 2007 vintage is proving to be truly spectacular. Originally known as our "Claret," the Estate Cuvee continues our tradition of representing the Bordeaux varieties in a unique Clos Pegase Estate blend. Our 2007 vintage is a 'field blend' of all the Bordeaux varieties planted at Clos Pegase, made from the four most widely planted of the classic red Bordeaux varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot dominate, along with significant contributions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Winemaking Notes

Bottling was after 14 months aging in 37% new french oak barrels, adding structure and support through barrel aging, while preserving the vibrant fruit tones.
