Clos Pegase is the Crossroads of Wine and Art and the art comes alive with two highly regarded artists painting original work at Clos Pegase on a regular basis!
Famed artist Jim Stallings (www.jimstallingsfineart.com) creates beautiful acrylic paintings that sing a passionate song of joy and peace.
Acclaimed Watercolorist and Author, Barbara Nechis, is a truly inspired Muse. Her gorgeous pieces are lovingly created.
Jan and Mitsuko Shrem, Founders/Proprietors, invite you to enjoy the excitement of seeing artwork being born as you enjoy a tasting of our highly rated estate wines at Clos Pegase. Carols In The Caves - 24th Season

Cave Music's Improvisator returns to the Clos Pegase Cave Theatre with a special show as part of his 24th annual Carols In The Caves season.
Join this relaxing, informal gathering in resounding underground acoustics amid cavorting statues, where the rare instrument master will transport you back to ancient times. Clos Pegase wines will be available at intermission. Be sure to bring your spirit of adventure!

Spring of the Muses - A Celebration of Wine and the Arts

Join us at Clos Pegase for a wonderful celebration of Wine and the Arts in our dramatic Cave Theater. We will celebrate the Muses, daughters of Zeus and goddesses of the arts by partaking in our THIRD ANNUAL Futures Preview Tasting. We will be previewing our stellar 2008 Hommage Artist Series Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (a true work of art!), drawn from the barrel by Winemaker, Shaun Richardson. Our Consultant Winemaker, Paul Hobbs, was in charge of harvest decisions, fermentation and elevage regimes, and finally aiding us in preparing the blend for the 2008 Hommage Artist Series Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine sample will represent the final blend of the 2008 wine, although bottling will be later in the year.
The tasting is a preview - the wine at its most powerful and opulent, but not as complete or as elegant and integrated as it will become after bottle aging. It is designed to give you a hint of the greatness to come!

Where's the art? As you probably know, Clos Pegase is a Temple to both Wine and Art - The Shrems have been avid art collectors for over 40 years and we are fortunate to display many important pieces throughout the winery. Did you know that there are almost 1000 pieces on display at the winery?! Well, if that were not enough, during this special Spring of the Muses Celebration, we will be featuring artwork by the Students of Calistoga High School. Additionally, some very accomplished Artists will join us at the winery for the day to display their work, create and cavort with our guests.
We will also be featuring the musical glory of the Improvisator, David Auerbach. For over twenty years he has performed in wine caves and underground cellars, natural caverns and woodland meadows, century-old churches and vast cathedrals, and other exotic settings. His shows have been set in firelight and darkness, on islands and on water, under planetarium domes and under starlit skies. On April 10, 2010 he will perform in the Wine & Art Temple we call Clos Pegase.
